Social Presencing Theater

A Systemic Embodied Approach to Social Change

Social Presencing Theater (SPT) is a social art form that draws on the arts and contemplative wisdom traditions to cultivate body-based knowledge for self, groups, and projects in order to more deeply understand current experiences and connect with seeds of possibilities.

These practices are tools of the Presencing Institute’s Theory U, an innovative method for social change. They have been developed by Arawana Hayashi in conjunction with Otto Scharmer, MIT Economist.

My colleague, Carol Zahner, and I have trained with Arawana, and use these embodied practices in our experiential workshops on navigating conflict and exploring power dynamics.

New workshops are coming in the fall of 2024!
